It was 4 years ago when I got the phone call…

I had just wrapped up breakfast with the kids, and settled into our morning when I got an unexpected call.

I recently shared a blog post about why we prioritized Daddy/Daughter dates in our home, and I shared it as a 6-second reel as well. But here’s what I didn’t expect..

I was sitting with a friend, and sharing areas we were struggling with in parenting.

And I’ll never forget what she said.

Bedtime can be a beautiful transition or a chaotic nightmare, am I right? But what I’ve found as a mom of 4, is that as much as I want to rush through bedtime most nights, our children are actually more likely to open up to us during this precious time.

We don’t always want to draw with our kids, or play Barbies, or build legos… But when we give an intentional yes to our children, we are almost ALWAYS blessed by fruitful conversations in those very moments.

As believers, the Christmas season is so deeply meaningful. And yet, it’s so easy to fall into the trap of consumerism. A simple way to resist the pull into all things manufactured and void of meaning and purpose is to have a Christmas library of meaningful Christ-centered books.
