An Unexpected Story of Redemption

February 19, 2024

I recently shared a blog post about why we prioritized Daddy/Daughter dates in our home, and I shared it as a 6-second reel as well. But here’s what I didn’t expect..

First thing: I didn’t expect a girl who grew living with the painful consequences of an absent father to find Jesus, experience restoration of life, heart, hope and future and give her a husband to build a beautiful family with.

But more than that, I didn’t expect her to share a post about what challenged us to invest in Daddy/Daughter dates in light of her own experiences… and have this happen.

But isn’t it like God?

A young girl, sitting in the rubble of destruction that divorce and brokenness caused, grew up to be a mom, held by Jesus watching her husband plant intentional roots of connection for her girls (and boys).

And God used everything in between.

A few weeks ago, I shared a reel about a conversation I had with a friend that led me and Kyle to get really intentional about daddy/daughter dates..

Then this happened:

That little post has been…

  • Viewed by over 2 million people
  • Saved to rewatch over 10,000 times
  • Shared by over 25,000 people!

And while I’m not a numbers girl, I know these numbers represent much more than “instagram growth.” This post has been generating conversations every single day for the last few weeks, including ones happening inside countless homes.

Wives tagging husbands.
Women thanking their fathers.
Strangers encouraging each other.

And I can’t help but think… God really used MY story of pain, and rejection, and disappointment.. like this? Not just with a reel. But with a purpose. With a plan. With friends.

With a story. But I had to tell it.

What God can do with a story is beyond our imagination. Our only part is to live it in surrender.

And it really pisses the enemy off when we don’t lay over and call ourselves victims, but instead become a vessel of hope, pointing to the One who restores and redeems.

This isn’t about trending instagram posts. It’s about God’s grace, and the countless ways He takes brokenness and truly makes it beautiful.

Here’s the post incase you missed it.
